Midnight Movies 2004

From midnight to morning, from Spain to Austria. Or simply Midnight Movies, just life – Simplemente la vida. And yet, what we assume to be simple often proves to be complex: in the trendy to surreal, off-beat, at times even unsettling (young) Spanish cinema and in the easy-going subversiveness of international independent cinema. The ”crises”, then, on which steirischer herbst has focused are adequately overcome aesthetically – at least in terms of form.
