They record and observe. They note, sketch, photograph. They formulate passing thoughts – topical today, perhaps stale tomorrow.

This year again, five artists will be keeping a highly subjective online diary: Swiss theatre-maker Milo Rau, who projects epic images of flight and homeland in “Empire”, thus exploring the future of Europe; Austrian author and musician Daniel Wisser; author and graphic artist Teresa Präauer; Natalie Ofenböck and Nino Mandl (alias Der Nino aus Wien), who have embarked on a research tour of Styria for steirischer herbst, capturing their experiences and encounters on “Das grüne Album”.

They have already published their first notes in May, and will be adding to them continuously. When they are on site in Graz for one week during the festival, their note-taking will be intensified – thus joining together to form a parallel pre-history and literary continuation of steirischer herbst.
