Ataya – Tea palaver in the sahelian tradition: On visa issues

In the Sahel region, tea has the capacity of bringing people together. There is a ritual of sharing the cups, and guests are always served first. The same pot of tea will be boiled three times, adding more tea, mint leaves and sugar. The taste of each round of tee is subject to comments from the drinkers. Le débat amène le débat. Debate invites debate. Todays conversation circles around visa affaires: A culture of humiliation, underestimation and harnaque. Participants are invited to tell their stories and perhaps there will be a forum theatre piece created from these.
