Robot’s are no longer found only in factories or are highly developed beings from science-fiction novels: they are conquering our homes, they are in the water, in the air, they optimise artificial limbs, help autistic children, analyse farmland or serve the purpose of virtuoso entertainment. ”Robot dreams” examines the political, social and artistic implications of new intellectual games concerning this helper for humans, who was once conceived of as a slave. Artists are invited to explore topics such as embodiment, man-machine interaction, bio-politics and different forms of swarm-oriented and community-organised thought. In this context, robots serve as artistic media, as mirrors of ethical debates on the artificial human being, different definitions of intelligence, and they are examined with a critical, at times ironical detachment, with regard to the different levels of meaning of the other.
