If someone has made the city in which he lives the main focus of his analysis as an artist, then one such person is Fedo Ertl in Graz. This synopsis of his works centres on the contextualisation and the re-interpreted concept of site specifity. This reflects his interest in concrete cultural, societal and political situations, that are paradigms of the responsibility of art towards its community. From the current standpoint, the exhibition project focuses on the individual and collective past. Together with five artist friends, the presentation includes specially developed Graz projects: they bring everyday situations into the art venue, from where, transformed into a different language form, they react on the city space. In this way, various citizens share immediately in a new art-based construction of reality that follows Ertl’s long-standing conception.
