A summit meeting: The ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra meets Klangforum Wien.

An orchestra and an ensemble of soloists, the two most important orchestras of contemporary music in Austria – the RSO Vienna and Klangforum Wien – on stage together. This extremely exquisite constellation paves the way for an artistic summit meeting of classical European modernism of the early 21st century.

All the possibilities of a full orchestral experience of sound combined with all the possible refinements of an ensemble-based collective of soloists lay the foundations for excellent new music and, ultimately, for a new genre of profound exploration of European music (pre)history and innovative, inventive music for the dawning 21st century.

Turkish composer Zeynep Gedizlioğlu has been commissioned to create a contemporary “Concerto Grosso”, that will premiere at musikprotokoll, conducted by Johannes Kalitzke. Her latest piece is a commission from Radio Österreich 1 and musikprotokoll. Slovene Vito Žuraj also takes up the challenge of devising a piece for two outstanding orchestras. His work for ensemble and orchestra promises a full-bodied sound experience and will be staged for the first time in Austria.
