First Life Virtuell

Places exist both here and there – and art has always been a pioneer for all kinds of parallel worlds. In this vein, steirischer herbst is celebrating for real at The Theater and almost for real on an island of the Second Life Internet platform. In a joint project of students from Graz and Stockholm, a virtual meeting-place is created that allows visitors from all over the world to embark on a journey around the real world without any strain and without using any kerosene, to gain an insight into the festival, and to join in the celebrations.

Experienced visitors can set out without further ado – while everyone else receives assistance. In The Theatre visitors will be able to log in on their own computer, use a public terminal or just follow it all on screen. People who are new to Second Life can get help creating their own avatar, or just borrow someone else’s. Be danced and dance yourself. An experiment.
