Emil Siemeister was first influenced by the so called “Wiener Aktionismus”. Departing from this he then found his own artistic style that speaks for itself. For him the contact with works of ”mentally sick patients” of the collection of the psychiatrist Prinzhorn in Heidelberg was decisive. From then on he has dealt with the possibility of leaving traces in self-determined graphic systems, which are free on the one hand as far as questions of composition are concerned, and on the other hand have not to be thematically connected to the current culture of protest. In this way documents come to life that are basically fitted with an anarchistic headstrongness – intelligent signs of an independent moving artist, who again and again re-manifests himself.
