Many theorists reproach contemporary art with its mere contemporaneity. Now that the distinction between representation and reality, between image and reality, between art work and utility object, has been abandoned in modernism, the areas of expertise are being destroyed from within and without, by the art system and by politics, and art is becoming a cynical or naive accomplice in the dismantling of the welfare and constitutional state, while mass-media structures are conquering the sphere of art.

The exhibition attempts to provide some clues as to how the paradigm of modernism could be overcome: art not as duplication of the real, nor as magic. Is there a real world beyond images and media?
