chimeric tendencies – process showing is a multimedia performance that creates an immersive cosmos of black light, projections, associative objects, live audio descriptions, and experimental electronic sounds.
Inspired by the origin story of the Styrian panther, chimeric tendencies uses performative strategies to create multiple, collective, queer bodies that constantly reinvent themselves in space. The heraldic animal was originally not a predatory cat but a Pan-Tier, a “pan-animal,” a chimera that unites different animal bodies and spits fire from all orifices.
The performance explores the complexities of being categorized from a collective, trans-futurist perspective and explores the possibilities of queer, anti-racist, intersectional appropriations of folk myths. How is something never-before-seen named? How can what is actually perceived and what is merely imagined merge and yet contradict each other?
