As a medium of both artistic and commercial interests, the poster has always played an important role in design education. Here, the focus is not only on the poster as a tool of the design trade, but above all, on examining the tradition and the future of this very versatile medium. That is why the poster is also a favorite object of applied design research.

The project The Next Poster, part of the Kunst der Verführung (The Art of Enticement) series, explores the historical and technological changes and expansion of the poster medium. Some key terms: the sonic poster, the mixed-reality poster, the virtual poster, the kinetic poster, the scenographic poster, the animated poster, the interactive poster, the intelligent poster, and the individualized poster. 

Students and instructors from the master’s degree programs in Communication, Media, Sound, and Interaction Design and in Exhibition Design took part in several interdisciplinary workshops for one semester. This exhibition presents the results.
